Sustainability
Away Media recognizes that we have a responsibility not only in our physical footprint but in our ability to influence our clients as well as consumers' footprints through the emotional and intellectual impression we leave on our audiences. The potential to effect positive change is profound, therefore we must lead by example.
Away Media also taken aggressive steps to make its workplace more environmentally conscious.
Here are a few of our green office initiatives:
Telecommuting: Every member of our staff can choose to work from their home and avoid commuting altogether.
Ride, Run or Walk: Our office is a short bicycle ride, run, or walk from the Great Allegheny Passage Trail. We encourage our staff to ride, run, or walk to the office and provide bicycle storage and a shower. We also have bikes on-site that employees can use for errands.
Washable Plates, Cups, and Mugs: Our kitchen shuns disposables.
Energy Efficient Light Bulbs: Our office uses energy efficient bulbs.
Energy Saver Electronics and Equipment: Away Media makes every effort to purchase Energy Star rated appliances, electronics and equipment including computers and printers.
Recycling Program: We recycle office materials including paper, aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic, toner cartridges and more.
Community Supported Agriculture: We offer a subsidized CSA program, where staff can get fresh organic food from nearby Cedar Rock Farm throughout the Summer and Fall.
The Garden: We have a small garden where we grow vegetables and we help fertilize it with our recycled coffee grounds.
